Copy the Catalogue! One Layout – Two Completely Different Cards

Normally in our Friday Night Live we work from a sketch…

But this week I did something a little different.

Instead of starting with a sketch, I went straight to page 56 of the current Mini Catalogue and used one of the sample cards as my inspiration.

And can I just say — this is such an underrated way to create!

Sometimes we forget that the catalogue is FULL of layouts just waiting to be “borrowed.” 😉

Same Layout… Totally Different Feel

For both cards, I kept the same basic structure:

• Vertical Designer Series Paper panel
• Simple card base
• Circular focal element
• Layered leaf cluster
• Sentiment across the front
• A few embellishments for sparkle

That’s it.

But look how different they turned out!

Card 1 – Soft & Elegant

This version uses the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper with warm neutral tones and metallic leaves.

The “love and hugs” sentiment sits on a stitched circle, layered with metallic foliage and soft ribbon details.

The result feels elegant, refined and perfect for a special occasion. It’s a beautiful reminder that when you let the paper shine, the layout does the rest.

Card 2 – Bright & Uplifting

The second card features the Painted Illusions Designer Series Paper, which is our current Product of the Month 💗

And doesn’t it completely transform the layout?

The bold, artistic background creates energy and movement. By keeping the leaf cluster white, the colourful paper becomes the star while still giving lovely dimension.

Same structure.
Same layering.
Completely different mood.
